On October 6th, 2022, Electronic Arts announced the latest entry in the Need for Speed series titles, Need for Speed Unbound. The game is being developed by Criterion games and will be published by Electronic Arts. The game is set in a fictional city called Lakeshore City, reportedly inspired by Chicago.

Lakeshore City has been described by the developers as a canvas, and the players as artists. In addition, various biomes will also exist in Lakeshore City, including mountains, plains, and even a port. The developers have also claimed that Lakeshore City feels like it was designed for street racers. 

The world of NFS Unbound will also reportedly feature various activities that the player can indulge in, including Weekly Qualifiers, Takeovers, and Meetups. 

EA has also stated that earning cash is the only way players will be able to take advantage of the new driving effects in NFS Unbound. Nothing is going to be handed to you, so players will have to take part in street races to earn said cash. When players aren't racing, the world of Lakeshore City offers them a plethora of side activities to keep them busy, including Speed Traps, Long Jumps, Stunt Drops, and Ramps. 

Car customization is going to play a pivotal role in NFS Unbound as well. Players have the freedom to fully customize their whip, including repairs and brand-new driving effects. This will reportedly take place in areas known as Gas Stations. Car tuning is also an option, which players can access via Safe Houses. Lastly, we have the underground Meetups, which are underground racing scenes offering players the chance to race other street racers to earn some cold hard cash, and even betting. 

NFS Unbound will also feature an innovative single-player campaign, which is set to deliver thrills and consequences through an immersive world that ought to engage players in the city of Lakeshore. When a robbery at a family auto shop tears two friends apart, a rookie racer sets out on a journey to win the ultimate street race and reclaim the priceless car that was stolen from them.

The trailer offered fans their first look at the newly revamped art style, which made it evident that the franchise would be returning to its roots of street-style racing. In addition, rapper A$AP Rocky will be featuring in the game too, alongside his latest song titled "Sh*ttin me", which was also featured in the said trailer. Moreover, he will also be featuring in-game as a leader in a dedicated mode called the Takeover Scene, involving players working together to take control of parts of Lakeshore City.

When is the Need For Speed Unbound game going to be released?

Need for Speed Unbound is set to release on December 2nd, 2022, for the PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. You can pre-order the Standard Edition for 3,499 rupees, or the Palace Edition for 4,299 rupees via Steam, or the Epic Games Store.
